Industry facing new FCM data duties under EU transparency Regulation

Certain food contact materials (FCMs) and other substances which fall under EU food safety legislation are now subject to new transparency rules around risk assessment, meaning that dossier submitters will need to ensure compliance with enhanced data requirements. The new rules came into effect on 27 March under the EU transparency Regulation, which amends the EU general food law covering food and feed safety. New requirements include making non-confidential information about studies undertaken for dossiers publicly available, and opening all dossiers up for three-week public consultations.
