A group of 14 NGOs has urged the European Commission to propose a hazardous waste limit of 100 parts per million (ppm) for short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) under the Basel and Stockholm Conventions, during a working group meeting. The current EU proposal is 10,000 ppm, which the NGOs said would impact the circular economy, health, environment and the internal market. The limits will be finalised at the Conferences of Parties for the treaties in April-May 2019.
