India sets standards for dental whitening and bleaching products

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has set national standards for dental products used for whitening and bleaching, which it will formally notify to the WTO within two months. After this, the BIS said in its 12 October announcement, dental products – including fluoridated and non-fluoridated dental whitening and/or bleaching products – will fall within the category of 'cosmetics', which are governed and regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
