India: Chemicals law would only permit animal testing as a last resort

India’s latest draft of its upcoming chemicals law contains provisions that could reduce testing on animals on a much greater scale. The Department of Chemicals and Fertilisers circulated the fifth draft, dated 24 August, of the Chemical (Management and Safety) (CMS) Rules 20XX with select industry groups in early September, but has still not made the document publicly available.
