Dr Friederike Danneberg of Dr Knoell, based in Mannheim, Germany, discusses the key points producers, importers and suppliers of articles need to know about SVHCs and finished goods. Six new substances were added to Echa’s SVHC candidate list on 15 January, reminding us that REACH is not only about chemicals and mixtures but also applies to articles (finished goods). While this fact has mainly interested NGOs in the past, obligations concerning articles under REACH are becoming more widely known.
