Draft EU law on resorcinol SVHC identification faces further scrutiny

The European Commission has published a draft law identifying resorcinol as an SVHC based on endocrine disrupting effects in humans, taking matters into its own hands after disagreement between member states about whether the substance poses an equivalent level of concern under REACH. The EU executive published the draft implementing Regulation for discussion in the upcoming REACH Committee meeting on 24-25 June, although an absolute unanimity is unlikely, with a further debate expected in September before the Committee can take a vote, a key industry stakeholder has said.
