Tougher EU plastic FCM chemical restrictions published

The European Commission’s Regulation lowering the migration limits of metals in plastic food contact materials will enter into force on 23 September after a delay of three months. It was originally expected to be adopted in June. The measure was published in the Official Journal on 3 September and is part of the 15th amendment to the plastic FCM Regulation. Changes include lower migration limits on arsenic, cadmium, trivalent chromium, lead and mercury, as well as a new migration limit for antimony trioxide.
