Japan sets out five-year schedule for mandatory SDS documentation and labelling: MHLW aims to add 2,100 substances in first three years of the programme
Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has drawn up a preliminary schedule for companies to provide safety data sheets (SDSs) for thousands of substances, and adhere to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals on a mandatory basis. In a ministry report published on 26 February, the MHLW sets out a five-year schedule for the inclusion of up to 2,600 substances in the programme.
