Companies release ‘open-source’ PFAS-free food packaging formula

A US packaging manufacturer and a speciality chemicals producer have teamed up to offer an open-source recipe for making food packaging resilient to grease and water, without utilising per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The unprecedented step – intended to expedite movement away from these compounds in food contact materials (FCMs) – has drawn industry and regulators’ attention.
