ArcelorMittal presented new branded initiatives bringing together its low-carbon steel products and activities. These include issuing special “green steel” certificates and significant investments in innovations. ArcelorMittal launched the XCarb trade mark, combining its decarbonising efforts to achieve a net zero target in 2050. Under the initiative called “XCarb green steel certificates”, the company will provide its customers with an opportunity “to buy certificates attached to their physical orders of steel, enabling them to report a reduction in their Scope 3 carbon emissions,” ArcelorMittal said in a notice. It expects to have 600,000 t of equivalent green flat steel available to customers by the end of 2022, Metal Expert learnt.
