Iron ore shipments from Port Hedland fall in January

Iron ore shipments from the world’s largest export terminal of the raw material, Australia’s Port Hedland, fell sharply in January compared to December on weaker demand from China, but rose on yearly basis. Port Hedland reduced iron ore export by 9.2% m-o-m to 42.23 million t last month, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority. The decrease was mainly caused by falling demand in China, with shipments to the country dropping by 11% m-o-m to 35.55 million t.
