Nippon Steel advances on flats capacity expansion, restarts BF in Kashima Area

The largest Japanese steel manufacturer Nippon Steel Corporation has strengthened its position in the special sheet sector and continued to restart its blast furnaces (BFs), driven by better demand in automotive industry. The producer has started commercial production of special sheets for the auto sector at East Japan Works, Kimitsu Area, in mid-January, according to the company’s press release.
