'JANET VS FREUD' ON TRAUMATIZATION: A CRITIQUE OF THE THEORY OF STRUCTURAL DISSOCIATION FROM AN OBJECT RELATIONS PERSPECTIVE

In '"Janet vs Freud" on traumatization: A critique of the theory of structural dissociation from an object relations perspective' [BJP 32(4) (2016) 436-55], Joan Lesley and Sverre Varvin express concern that the theory of structural dissociation of the personality has taken hold in Norway, and has caused undue and unnecessary confusion regarding treatment of clients with dissociative disorders. According to the authors there is no need to change treatment models for subjects with dissociative disorders who might well be treated with psychoanalytic methods.
