World Energy,which owns five biodiesel plants in the U.S.and two in Canada,acquired an aging oil refinery in Paramount,California(near Los Angeles)two years ago,and is in the process of retrofitting the plant to make 360 MMgy of renewable fuels.The company is reportedly making an investment of more than $130 million to convert the refinery to produce renewable jet fuel,renewable diesel,renewable gasoline and propane from non-food grade vegetable oils,beef fat and animal tallow.
