The transannular cyclization of medium-sized rings contributes to the enhancement of molecular rigidity and structural complexity,two properties often associated with biological activity in small molecules.In fact,there are several naturally occurring terpenoids with a transannular oxygen eleutherobin (3),all of which show interesting pharmacological properties.
