Kanto No2 HMS Benchmark Rebounds to Y28,500 ex Steelworks

Japan’s local ferrous scrap market in the Kanto area bounced up by Y500/ton to around Y28,500/ton delivered at steelworks as of Nov 6 for benchmark prices of No2 HMS when they turned upward for the first time in one and a half months since the third week of September. In the Kanto area, Tokyo Steel Mfg Co increased its purchase prices of local ferrous scrap by Y1,000/ton for all grades from Nov 5 at its Utsunomiya works. Itoh Iron & Steel Co, Kanto Steel Ltd and Chiyoda Steel Co followed suit. For its part, Itoh Iron & Steel Co raised what the company pays for HMS by Y1,000/ton again from Nov 6 for intakes at its Tsukuba works.
