BP fast-tracks Egypt’s Atoll gas field production

Dubai-BP has approved the first phase development of the offshore Atoll gas field in Egypt, taking the field from discovery to supplying 300 MMcf/d of gas to the Egyptian domestic market in less than three years when it comes on stream in the first half of 2018. Egypt is enjoying a gas production boom as it looks to meet shortages on the domestic market and reduce LNG imports. The first phase development at Atoll covers an early production scheme, which will include the recompletion of the existing exploration well as a producing well, as well as drilling two additional wells, and the installation of new facilities, BP said in a statement Monday.
