Vietnam’s oil product demand falls in first quarter

Hanoi—Vietnam’s domestic oil product demand fell 5.2% year on year in the first quarter, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It is the first time the ministry, which oversees the oil sector, has released information on the country’s oil product demand for any period, and comes after Industry and Trade Minister Vu Huy Hoang recently ordered the relevant sections of the ministry and stateowned Petrolimex to increase transparency in the oil sector. The ministry, however, did not provide any volume data.
