AltaGas-led JV ready to take over BC LNG project

Calgary—A joint-venture led by Calgary-based AltaGas is preparing to take over a planned LNG export project in British Columbia that is now going through a creditor protection process, an AltaGas official said Wednesday. “We are in the final stages of working through the [Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act],” AltaGas CEO David Cornhill said at the 2014 TD Securities Calgary Energy Conference. He did not provide further details, but AltaGas Finance Director Jess Nieukerk said AltaGas and JV partners Exmar of Belgium and French gas trading group EDF have been invited to take over the planned Douglas Channel LNG export project.
