Bali-Indonesian state-owned power utility Perusahaan Listrik Negara plans to reduce its fuel oil consumption by 13.5% to 6.4 million kiloliters this year, from 7.4 million kl in 2013, as it switches to using more gas and coal, a senior company official said Monday. PLN expects to increase its coal utilization to 55 million mt this year compared with 49 million mt in 2013. Gas use is set to rise to 431 trillion Btu (12.1 billion cubic meters), from 410 trillion Btu in 2013, the head of PLN's gas and fuel division, Suryadi Mardjo- eki, told Platts.
