Russia’s Primorsk crude exports to slip by 20%

Primorsk—Crude exports from the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk in 2014 are set to drop by a fifth year on year to 43.5 million mt (870,000 b/d) as Russian oil flows continue to be redirected to Russian’s newest Baltic port, according to an official with Russia’s national oil pipeline operator Transneft. In 2015, crude exports via Primorsk are expected to total 41-43.5 million mt, Andrei Kulishin, chief engineer at Primorsk port, told reporters Thursday. The port is controlled by Transneft. Crude exports via Primorsk have fallen from a peak of 74.5 million mt in 2009 as volumes have been increasingly redirected to the neighboring Baltic port of Ust-Luga, commissioned in 2012.
