Lima, Peru—The Peruvian government is interested in preventing “abuses” in fuel prices but without resorting formulas or price controls, Peruvian Energy and Mines Minister Jorge Merino said April 29. His comments came after he signed laws to strengthen state oil company Petroperu and give it rights to operate crude oil block 64, which has yet to go into a production stage.
