Governments eye leveraging Trans-Alaska Pipeline

Vancouver—A proposal to take advantage of unused capacity on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System is in early discussion stages by the Alaska, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Yukon governments, NWT Industry Minister David Ramsay said May 8. He said the option is viewed by the NWT government as a chance to access markets with crude from the Alberta oil sands, the NWT’s early-stage Canol shale oil play and possibly the Canadian Beaufort through the tanker port at Valdez.
