Afren makes basin-opening Nigeria oil find

Lagos-UK-listed Afren has made a "significant" oil discovery at its OPL 310 license area offshore Nigeria, saying the find may have opened up an entirely new basin off the West African country. The Ogo-1 well was drilled to a depth of 10,518 feet, the company said, and initial results from the drilling campaign indicated that reserves could be well in excess of previous estimates of 78 million barrels of oil equivalent.
