Shell takes fiD on Malaysian deepwater oil project

Singapore-Shell and its partners ConocoPhil- lips and Petronas Carigali, the upstream arm of Malaysia's state-run Petronas, have made a final investment decision on the Malikai oil field offshore Sabah and the project is expect- ed to start production in 2016-17. This is a two-year delay from its original timeframe of 2014-15. Shell said the Malikai field, which lies in water depth of up to 500 meters, will require 17 wells drilled from the 23,500 mt tension leg platform production facility, the first TLP to be fabricated and installed in Malaysia.
