Washington—Noting that he had “certain philosophical differences” with the new board of directors appointed after a shareholder rebellion in June, Chesapeake Energy’s CEO Aubrey McClendon has agreed to retire from the Oklahoma City independent he founded 24 years ago and built into the US’s second largest natural gas producer. In the same announcement, Chesapeake said the results of its investigation into McClendon’s personal financial dealings would be released with the company’s year- end financial results on February 21.
