Alaska eyes new rules on platform abandonment

Anchorage—Alaska is considering formal rules for offshore platform abandonment and bonding requirements for abandonment, state officials said Monday. There are no proposed regulations drafted yet, Division of Oil and Gas Director Bill Barron said at a workshop convened to solicit industry comments. The state wanted to hear from industry and the public before developing proposed regulations that will go through a formal rulemaking process, he said.
