Enbridge updates Northern Gateway pipeline costs

Calgary-Enbridge is currently updating cost estimates for its Northern Gateway crude oil export pipeline in western Canada, with the company planning to increase the thickness of the line's pipe to enhance safety. "A Class 3 cost estimate development and review is now being carried [out], tak- ing a look at the design, specifications and technology changes we plan to introduce to the pipeline system," Brian Fowler, senior director for upstream development, said Tuesday at the 2013 Heavy Oil Canada Con- ference, hosted in Calgary by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
