Oil futures higher as IEA sees slower supply growth

New York—Oil futures closed higher Friday after the International Energy Agency said production could soon decline as a result of the slump in oil prices. ICE March Brent settled $1.90 higher at $50.17/barrel, one day after February expired as the front-month contract. NYMEX February crude ended $2.44 higher at $48.69/b. Both futures contracts settled higher on a week-on-week basis for the first time since the week ended November 14. NYMEX refined products tracked crude futures. February ULSD settled 4.23 cents higher at $1.6656/gal. Prompt RBOB closed up 5.94 cents at $1.3588/gal.
