Marathon mulls ways to move product east

New York—Marathon Petroleum is looking to the East Coast as an outlet for gasoline and diesel it makes at its Midwestern refineries, a move which could put pressure back on East Coast refineries. Midwestern refineries continue to be the biggest beneficiaries of North America’s unconventional oil boom, as both light, sweet shale oil from the Bakken and Western Canada Select (WCS) from Alberta can easily make its way to refineries there.
