NYMEX front-month crude contract hits 46-month low

New York-New York Mercantile Exchange January crude futures settled $3.12 lower at $43.67/barrel December 4 as weak equity markets placed downward pressure on prices across the petroleum complex. After the front-month contract broke below the key $45/b support level during midday trading, it traded to an intra-day low of $43.51/b, the lowest the contract has traded since January 6, 2005.
