Petronas awards EPC contract for maiden FLNG project

Kuala Lumpur—Malaysia’s Petronas June 5 awarded Technip and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract for its maiden floating LNG project. Petronas subsidiary Petronas Floating LNG 1 (L) Limited signed the contract in Kuala Lumpur during the World Gas Conference 2012. The FLNG facility is scheduled to be ready for startup by the end of 2015, Petronas said. It will be moored around 180 kilometers (112 miles) off the coast of Bintulu, Sarawak, and is designed to produce 1.2 million mt/year of LNG, it added.
