Woodside to step up overseas expansion

Sydney—Woodside Petroleum has decided to expand its exploration efforts overseas, while maintaining a “premium” portfolio in its home country of Australia, where it plans to start looking at unconventional onshore resources, company executives told an annual investors’ briefing May 28. “Woodside aims to deliver a balanced portfolio—balanced globally and balanced in terms of hydrocarbon type, essentially liquids versus gas,” Greg Roder, executive vice president corporate strategy and planning, said. “It is important to note that the key driver of decisions in this arena of new opportunities to add to the portfolio is value—the value of the molecules to be captured—rather than the geographic location [country] or the type of hydrocarbon,” he added.
