Bangladesh 2011-12 natural gas output rises by 11%

Dhaka, Bangladesh—Bangladesh’s natural gas output increased by 11.05% to 2.21 Bcf/d in fiscal 2011-12 (July-June) from the previous year following efforts by the country to ramp up production, though this is still short of the 2.7-3 Bcf/d of domestic demand, an official with state-run Petrobangla said July 23. Natural gas production from fields operated by state-owned gas companies increased 5.6% year on year to 998,000 Mcf/d in fiscal 2011-12, while international companies lifted production by 15.66% to 1.211 Bcf/d, the official said, citing data compiled by Petrobangla.
