CNOOC Confirms Field Restart

State-controlled China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and partner ConocoPhillips announced over the weekend that they have received final approvals from regulators to resume production from the spill-hit Peng Lai 19-3 field in Bohai Bay. A revised overall development plan (ODP) and environmental impact assessment have both been approved by China's State Oceanic Administration, which had ordered a complete shutdown of the field after a series of oil spills in 2011.
