Illinois Fracking Rules Published

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has published final rules to regulate hydraulic fracturing in the Midwest state (OD Nov.10'14). The move comes almost a year and a half after the state legislature first passed the Illinois Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act. Outgoing Democratic Governor Pat Quinn presided over the compromise law which seeks to address environmental concerns while also encouraging the oil and gas industry to develop the New Albany Shale formation.
