Energen's Permian Basin Output Takes Hit From Ice Storms

Energen Resources is the latest Permian Basin producer to report that its fourth-quarter production took a hit from the disruptive ice storms that hit West Texas in late 2013 (OD Dec.5'13). The Alabama-based independent estimates that the severe winter weather caused a fourth-quarter loss of about 2,200-2,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day from its upstream operations in the Permian Basin, where it holds about 300,000 net acres. Prior to the storm-related upstream outages, Energen had expected fourth-quarter output in a range of 66,300 to 70,700 boe/d and fullyear production of 64,000 to 65,000 boe/d.
