US Oil Rig Count Falls by 2, Gas Rigs Drop by 11

Subdued US oil prices continue to push the the US oil rig count downward, with active oil rigs declining by two in the shortened week before the US Thanksgiving holiday. The latest US rig count data from oil-services provider Baker Hughes showed there were 1,572 rigs drilling for oil and 344 drilling for natural gas in the shortened week ending Nov. 26. The oil rig count declined for the secondstraight week after improving by 10 in the week ended Nov. 14 (OD Nov.17'14), and for the fifth time in seven weeks since peaking at 1,609 in early October (OD Oct.13'14).
