Mercator makes India discovery

Mercator Petroleum has chalked up its first oil discovery in India with the Jyoti-1 exploration well in its 100%-operated Block CN-ONN-2005/9 in the Cambay Basin, Gujarat. The Jyoti-1 well – “the very first well drilled by Mercator” – was drilled to a depth of 2,936m (9,632ft) and penetrated multiple oil and gas shows. The company said the zone in the interval 2,575-2,580m (8,448-8,464ft) was perforated and flowed oil at the rate of 830 b/d of oil through 32/64-inch choke size.
