Jordan Inks Upstream Deals

The cabinet of energy-poor Jordan signed a concession agreement with the Saudi Arabian Oil Shale Company for a $1.93 billion shale oil distillation project in the Atarat Umm Ghadran area on Sunday, according to the Jordan Times. The company envisions production capacity starting at 2,650 b/d, with the goal of reaching 30,000 b/d over a period of four to eight years. The cabinet also approved an agreement with the Korea Global Energy Corp (KGEC) for oil exploration in the Dead Sea and Wadi Araba areas.
