Shell Nabs Bulgarian Black Sea Block

Royal Dutch Shell has been awarded a deepwater exploration block in the Bulgarian sector of the Black Sea -- a region that could start to see an uptick in drilling activity next year (WGI Sep.16'15). Bulgaria's energy ministry announced on Tuesday that it had awarded Shell a five-year license for the Silistar 1-14 Block. It hopes to sign an official contract with the Anglo-Dutch supermajor by the end of October.
