Taiwan's oil product consumption aver-aged 718,700 b/d in August, down 17.2%from a year earlier, according to energy bu-reau data, and slipped 7.7% to 841,900b/d in the first eight months of the year(IOD Sep.15'11).Consumption of most products fell in Au-gust, except for gasoil and gasoline. Con-sumption of gasoil rose by 5.2% to 92,300b/d and of gasoline by 3.8% to 153,000 b/d.Naphtha consumption continued to tumble,sliding 42.7% to 180,500 b/d, because of theshutdown of Formosa Petrochemical's Mail-iao refining and petrochemicals complex af-ter a fire at the end of July. Jet fuel demandslipped 1.1% to 44,600 b/d while fuel oilconsumption dropped 7.7% to 125,300 b/d.
