Norwegian oil production has increased only modestly over the past two months, de- spite Statoil's start-up of three new fields and the end of scheduled maintenance. Output inched up by a paltry 9,000 bar- rels per day to 2.15 million b/d in December after a very depressed November, and by 36,000 b/d in January to 2.186 million b/d. The December average was 189,000 b/d down on year-earlier levels, while January was 171,000 b/d lower.
