Mystery Grows as Two Hand Over Deposit for Kovykta Auction

At least two firms have paid the deposit required to participate in the Mar. 1 auction of the properties of Rusia Petroleum, the bankrupt license holder to the giant Kovyk- ta gas field in East Siberia. But mystery still surrounds the likely fate of the acreage, which is reckoned to hold 2 trillion cubic meters of gas. Rusia was declared bankrupt last year at the instigation of its biggest shareholder, TNK-BP, which holds 62.9% of the insolvent firm.
