IEA Breaks Mould by Releasing Stockpiles

The International Energy Agency (IEA) said its 28 member countries have agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil -including 30 million bbl from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve -in the coming month. The move follows up on the agency's implicit threat to take measures itself if Opec did not agree to increase crude supplies at its Jun. 8 meeting.
