UK's Centrica Hikes Prices

Centrica, which sells energy to UK households under the British Gas brand, said on Friday it will hike residential tariffs by an average of 18% for gas and 16% for electricity from Aug. 18. It is the second company to announce massive UK price increases: Scottish Power, owned by Spain's Iberdrola, said last month it would hike gas prices by 19% and electricity prices by 10% from Aug. 1.
