Japan Eyes Massive Tepco Loan

The Japanese government may arrange to issue 1 trillion yen ($12.5 billion) in specialpurpose bonds in its second supplementary budget to help Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Tepco) pay compensation for the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, Japanese public broadcaster NHK said on Wednesday, without citing a source. Reuters, meanwhile, quoted the Sankei newspaper as saying Tokyo is considering setting aside 2 trillion yen, and that some believe the figure should be as high as 5 trillion yen.
