Angola's government has finally approved plans to restructure state oil company Sonangol, although the measures to be taken appear to be limited to a set of guidelines for now. The guidelines, which herald broader moves to restructure the sector, include narrowing Sonangol's role to that of an explorer and producer, while two new entities--a Petroleum Agency and Superior Council--will be responsible for regulation and administration, Oil Minister Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos said in Luanda.
