Taiwan's CPC to Expand LNG Import Capacity

Taiwan is launching plans to expand its LNG receiving and storage capacity to meet growing gas demand. The move comes amid political gridlock over the government’s longrunning strategy of further expanding the island state’s nuclear power generating capacity. Taiwan’s state-owned CPC Corp. will expand one of its LNG terminals located in Taichung city from 3 million tons per year to 5 million tons/yr by 2018, industry sources say. The expansion will involve the addition of three more storage tanks, each with a capacity of 160,000 cubic meters.
