PetroChina Forges Ahead in Iraq With Halfaya Expansion

PetroChina continues to move purposefully in Iraq, having increased production capacity at the Halfaya oilfield to 10 million tons per year (200,000 barrels per day) after the second phase of the project was put into operation, parent company China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said Wednesday. Output at Halfaya, which is located in Missan province in southeastern Iraq -- far from the violence that is impacting oil operations in northern and western parts of the country -- has reached the full capacity of 200,000 b/d, CNPC said (IOD Aug.19'14). PetroChina is a publicly listed subsidiary of state owned CNPC and the operator of the Halfaya project.
